広島で創業70年。グラスビーズメーカーの株式会社トーホーでは、約1,000色、10万種類ものビーズを製造しています。
トーホービーズの特徴は粒が揃っていること。また、これほど多くの色彩表現ができるのは、トーホーの熟練工だからこそ。原料の組み合わせや温度調節で色を調整し、0.1mm単位で穴の大きさをチェックするなど、妥協のないものづくりで世界から高い評価を得ています。
ウェディングドレスや高級ブランドのコレクションなどにも使用されています。

ここ広島で、世界中に愛される高品質の「ビーズ」が作られているということは、手芸ファンやアパレル業界では有名ですが、もっと多くの方に知ってもらいたい。そんな想いで、数え切れないほどの企画アイデアの中からたどり着いたのが、誰もが、手にしたことがあるであろう「ポストカード」。広島らしい「折り鶴」のイラストの一部にビーズを組み込んだデザインは、今までにない新しいビーズのカタチ。将来的には、カラーバリエーションも増やしてビーズの豊富さを表現したいです。
このビーズポストカードを手に取ってもらうことで、広島の地元の方は勿論、国内や海外の観光客の多くの方々に、トーホーの「メイドイン広島」のグラスビーズを知ってもらうとともに、「平和」や、「大切な人」に思いを馳せてほしい、という願いを込めています。

今回、ビーズの工場で製造の現場を見せていただいたことにより、インスピレーションがわいて、今までにないようなモノを作ろうという意欲が湧きました。
「折り鶴」をテーマにした商品はすでに世の中にたくさんあるので、それらと差別化をはかるために、シャープな線で折り鶴を表現し、世界中の方が手に取って、「日本」をイメージできるシンプルなデザインにしました。日本語と英語で、想いを込めたメッセージも入れているので、シーンごとに選べるし、お土産にも最適です。
こんなキラキラ輝くビーズが入っているポストカードが届いたら嬉しいだろうな、という思いで作りました。
